Yesterday 30th May, 2022 marked the 20th year of the death of the famous actor and comedian Mr John Evans Bosompem popularly known as ‘Bob Santo’ whose death occurred on 30th May 2002.
The comedian-actor Bob Santo rose to stardom in 1990 when the drama wing of Nana Kwame Ampadu’s African Brothers Band came out with their first cassette tape recording.
The play, titled Ntwatosuo, saw Santo playing the role of a deviant servant in the palace of Nana Konfanko.
He became the leader of the Omintiminim Concert Party in 1995 when he and his best friend Abusapanyin Judas left African Brothers to go into film acting and concert party performance.
Santo featured in several video productions some of which include Double Sense, 419, Banker to Banker, Marijata, That Day, Abawa Mary, Efiewura, Okukuseku and Asem. He died at the West End Hospital in Kumasi after a short illness.
He was 67 and was survived by two wives and three children. It is so sad that Ghanaians have forgotten about this hilarious comedian.
